Group trips: splitting expenses, even in several currencies
Create a project in the group's currency, share the link before you leave, and everyone enters what they pay in the local currency. Counted converts at the European Commission's monthly rate, keeps the original amount, and works out who pays whom when you are back.

Before you leave
- Create a project: a name, the currency you will settle in (often euros), the participants.
- Share the link in the group chat. Everyone joins without signing up, on the web or in the app.
- Install the app and open the project once before leaving: it then stays available with no network.
Paying in a foreign currency
When entering the expense, pick the amount's currency from over 150. Leave the rate empty and Counted applies the European Commission's (InforEuro) rate for the current month, or type your own, for instance the one on your bank statement. The rate is frozen when you enter it: the expense shows the amount paid and the rate used, and never moves again.
Worth knowing: the Commission's rate is monthly, not daily. It can be a few percent off your card's rate. If the group wants to match what was charged to the cent, enter the statement's rate.
No network
Hiking, abroad without a data plan, on a plane: browse the project and add expenses offline. Everything is sent once you are back online.
Expenses that are not for everyone
An activity two people skipped, a double room for a couple: choose who each expense is for, and split by shares when needed (2 shares for the couple, 1 for everyone else).
Example, a ski weekend for four:
| Expense | Paid by | Split between | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chalet rental | Alice | All four | €600 |
| Lift passes | Ben | Alice, Ben, Chloé | €330 |
| Groceries | Chloé | All four | €120 |
| Ski lesson | David | David | €90 |
Back home: settling up
The Settle up tab gives the shortest list of transfers to close the trip. With an account, everyone can share their payment details (IBAN, PayPal, Wero, Lydia, Revolut…), encrypted like everything else, so nobody has to ask for them again.
